“The Cardinal Rabbit”
Graphite & Digital Color
This illustration is an exploration and revisiting of my Korean roots and culture through symbols and colors of Korea. Rabbit is an animal often associated with the moon in Korea because it is said to appear on the surface of a full moon as a silhouette. The colors in this illustration are commonly found in traditional Korean clothing, food, and decorations. “Saekdong” in Korean means multi-colored. Korean children typically wear saekdong hanbok on holidays.
