The Magic Lantern - Part 2 (Online Event)

If you missed my presentation last year, you can catch a new installment of The Magic Lantern. This is a two-part presentation. The Magic Lantern: Part 2 is the second installment of an ongoing series of interactive animation projects which explore the art of animation through various, animation-viewing contraptions of the old and the new. The presentation will be divided into two parts. The first half will showcase various animated shorts. I will then give a presentation of animated sculptures created from modern tools such as 3D printing and laser-cut wood panels.

Takes on Double Take: A Conversation with Kim Caisse and Kelly White of 40 North
'Introducing "Takes" on DOUBLE TAKE! Since the chance to see the new Double Take show at 40 Point One was cut short, we are instead creating virtual gallery talks with the pairs of participating artists so you can learn all about their amazing collaborations for this show. We are kicking off with EKAH and Kim Caisse!
Double Take was a special exhibition inspired by the Exquisite Corpse drawing game invented by the surrealists where artists took turns creating sections of an image on a sheet of paper, folded to hide each individual contribution. DOUBLE TAKE featured 10 pairs of artists that were invited to collaborate with only minimal shared information on a set of 12 inch x 12 inch provided panels. The opening reception was a huge reveal since all the artists saw their completed corresponding panels for the very first time.'

Young Artist's Studio: Accidental Pop Art

Update: The workshop will be held virtually online via Zoom.
“Come explore accidental art-making with local artist, EKAH! Join us for the next installment of our Young Artist’s Studio where young participants will learn how to ‘see’ art in the clouds--or in this case, in random blobs of paint! Each young participant will use their imagination to find and trace images they see! Registered participants will receive delivered art kits to complete the workshop from home!

The Young Artist's Studio is a series of art workshops sponsored by The Urbana Free Library and The Urbana Arts & Culture Program designed to offer youth an opportunity to explore the arts. All events in the series are free and open to the public. The series is designed for children ages 5 to 11 (7 and under with a caregiver).”

COVID-19 Cancellations & Update

Nifty Nook will no longer continue having a store inside Enchantment Alley. Enchantment Alley will continue having local artists under a different brand called The Loft. Due to recent shelter-in-place order from the Governor of Illinois, Enchantment Alley must stay closed as long as this order is in place. I will not be able to continue my presence at Enchantment Alley. I may revisit the idea at a later time. For now, I will focus on creating more art and try to help the local artists in the community like myself impacted by the recent events.

The Magic Lantern Part 2 is still postponed. I will have updates as soon as circumstances change. Hope everyone stays safe and healthy.
